KAARO KARUNGI | B.O.U – The Parliamentary Appointments Committee has today 12th March 2021 approved the Bank of Uganda Governer Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile’s contract to serve in the same position for a new tenure.
At around midday, the Appointment Committee chaired by Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga cleared Mutebile to continue managing Bank of Uganda for more five years.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni extended his contract in January 2021 but has been pending for approval by the parliamentary appointment committee.
Mutebile arrived at the parliament around 10 am in his jovial mood and African genuine smile ready to face the Committee.
Mutebile who is ranked among the best economists in Africa, has been at the helm of Bank of Uganda since 2001.
