KAARO KARUNGI | RUBANDA– A 41 year old man’s body has been discovered floating on waters of lake Bunyonyi in Rubanda District.
Police identified the deceased as Kyomukama Majidu alias Yakub a resident of Murukoro village, Karengyere parish, Muko sub county in Rubanda District.
It’s alleged that the deceased who had a record of mental illness and having been on medication at Kabale regional Referral Hospital Left home on Wednesday April 2021 at around 0700hrs until his body was found floating on Lake Bunyonyi waters on Thursday.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the body was first seen by Birungi Hassan a sailor and resident of Karambo village, Ikamiro parish, Muko sub county also in Rubanda district as he sailed across the lake todock at Hisesero.
Maate also says that Birungi informed the sorrounding community who identified the deceased as Yakub.
“Our officers from Muko Police post were notified, visited the scene and the Body was retrieved from water pending postmortem” Maate noted by press time.
The case was registered at muko police station on Reference number SD 05/08/04/2021
