KAARO KARUNGI | KAMPALA – The UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen Flavia Byekwaso has warned Ugandans against the continued hate speech by a section through the help of foreigners.

UPDF claims to have confiscated printed materials intended to be used to incite the public in a bid to stop the swearing in of the President elect slated for May. The force’s spokesperson Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso adds that those behind the propaganda will be dealt with decisively.

“I would like to bring to your attention the continued hate speech by a section through the help of foreigners. Recently they were saying they are going to interrupt the swearing-in of the president-elect come 12th May 2021.”- Brig. Gen. Byekwaso

She adds that the president of the Republic of Uganda has on several cases warned against tribalism and sectarianism and as security forces, they will fight negative propaganda.

“We are all aware that the president of the Republic of Uganda has warned against tribalism and sectarianism. As security forces, we will fight negative propaganda.”- Byekwaso.

She thus warned that any person who stands in the way of peace will be dealt with decisively urging Ugandans to desist from such acts. She was on Monday in a joint security briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru Kampala.



“They are not productive. We urge those who are planning for such to stop because we are aware and know where they are.”- Byekwaso.
