The Agago RDC, Emmanuel Okot, confirmed a series of attacks on Thursday night by an unknown number of Jie warriors in Lapono and Omiya-Pacua sub-counties, respectively.

On Thursday night, March 30th, 2023, the UPDF engaged in an exchange of gunfire with suspected Jie Karamojong cattle rustlers who were attempting to raid over 90 heads of cattle from a kraal belonging to the local community in Lapono Sub-County, Agago North County, Agago District in East Acholi.

The Agago Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Okot, confirmed the report to The Ankole Times reporter in a telephone interview this morning.

According to the RDC, some suspected armed Karamojong warriors also attacked Omiya-Pachwa sub-county, Agago District, on the same Thursday night and raided over 60 goats from a community kraal.

The LC 3 James Opiro said that the UPDF are currently pursuing the cattle raiders to recover the stolen animals.

This week, Gen. Muhoozi visited Omiya Pacua sub-county and held a community meeting, promising better security to scale down raids by suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers.
