82-year-old widow evicted from her kibanja by a Nigerian, asks President Museveni to intervene in her suffering- An 82-year-old widow named Eron Nalongo Nava Nabawanuka, a resident of Kiwenda Kavule in Kiwenda Parish, Nansana municipality, Wakiso district, was evicted from her kibanja by a Nigerian national. She has appealed to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to intervene in her plight.
Eron Nalongo Nabawanuka bought the kibanja in 1967 with her late husband, Salongo Lubowa, who passed away in 2013.
Nalongo Nava says that in June 2017, she was forcibly taken to Kasangati Police Station by over 10 men, then produced in Kasangati Court, and subsequently imprisoned in Kasangati Prison for one month. Upon her release, she found that all her houses, including her matrimonial home, had been demolished by a Nigerian national named Onwuvuche Nandi Austeen.
Nalongo Nava further states that she opened several cases with the police and court. Case no 845/2019 was filed in Twed Towers Land Division. The Nigerian national, Onwuvuche, opened a case against the widow under vide 67/2016 in Kasangati Court but later withdrew the same case.
Nava’s son, David Sekaja, was also arrested under CRB 986/20, criminal case 426 of 2020, and taken to Kitala Prison for three months, after which the case was dismissed for want of prosecution. Sekaja was tortured by the Nigerian citizen, who employed goons dressed in black t-shirts.
Nava reported the matter to the DRDC of Nansana municipality, who called a meeting, but the Nigerian stubbornly refused to attend several meetings summoned by the DRDC.
In her communication to the media on Tuesday from Wakiso, the widow says she is living in fear and want. She urges H.E. President Gen. Yoweri Museveni to intervene in the matter.
