Obongi, Uganda: Over 20 vehicles, including that of RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka and the new DISO, and over 100 passengers, became stranded and stuck this morning due to the poor state of the Adjumani-Sinyanya-Obongi ferry road. The Resident District Commissioner’s (RDC) official vehicle experienced technical issues and became stuck as early as 9:00 AM.
Last week, the Adjumani-Sinyanya-Obongi road faced a similar situation when the UNRA Moto station team ferried some metallic culverts.
This morning, RDC Obongi Mr. Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka and the new DISO, Elyebu, were monitoring the state of the road. Within less than one month, over 100 vehicles have broken down while using the same road.
The road, which connects Adjumani to Obongi through the Sinyanya ferry, has been in a sorry state for over 8 months. UNRA began renovating the road last year but immediately abandoned it, according to the RDC.
Attempts were made to contact the UNRA manager of Moyo sub-station by The Ankole Times reporter, but repeated phone calls went unanswered.
