Forum for Democratic Change Party President Patrick Amuriat has warned Joyce Ssebugwawo that she risks going into political obscurity should she accept to serve in President Museveni’s government.
Ssebugwawo, who has been FDC Vice President for Central Region, was on Tuesday appointed State Minister for Information and ICT by Museveni.
But Amuriat said that if she accepts the offer, she should do so with an open mind, knowing that she will also be used and dumped just like other FDC members and opposition leaders who left the party to serve in president Museveni’s cabinet.
“It is clear she has moved on and has accepted to take a position from our opponent, the person we have fought to remove from power because of his inabilities,” Mr Amuriat said
“All I can say is we wish her well wherever she is going, but I want to caution her, because Museveni is fund of using and dumping and we have a number of examples in FDC of people who left and after a while they were dumped and forgotten completely and normally they cannot feel comfortable in NRM or come back,” she added.
Amuriat said that the party would meet and elect another Vice President Buganda region.
He added: “Is she no longer believes in us, it is her choice, She is not going to be the first to leave us or the last. We shall continue to be solid and in few weeks, we shall have a replacement. NEC should meet and select a person and we continue. Her departure will hurt us but we shall move on.”
