In a statement made at his residence in Magere, Wakiso District, the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, asserted that he is officially not in Uganda. He cited an unwelcoming reception from Ugandan immigration officials upon his return from South Africa. Bobi Wine had anticipated a warm welcome from his supporters, but he was reportedly removed from the RwandAir aircraft and transported to his home in Magere in waiting vehicles.

“As of this moment, I am officially not in Uganda because I did not go through immigration; they picked me up illegally,” stated Bobi Wine.

Despite the incident, Bobi Wine expressed his determination to continue his political activism and announced his intention to address the nation in the coming days regarding his future plans.

The Uganda Police confirmed that they had provided security for Bobi Wine during his journey from Entebbe to his home in Magere. They stated, “He reached his home around 11.20 am and is with his family and friends. Disregard rumors of his arrest by propagandists. Meanwhile, business activities and movements along Entebbe road, within Kampala and Gayaza, are flowing smoothly.”
