KAARO KARUNGI | KAMPALA – Thomas Tayebwa (NRM) has revealed plans to contest for Deputy Speaker on independent ticket. This follows Rebecca Kadaga’s pronouncement with the nomination of Jacob Oulanyah for Speakership on party ticket.
Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga and Hon Thomas Tayebwa will stand as Independent candidates after NRM didn’t give them it’s flag.
Kadaga was contesting for party’s speakership ticket as Tayebwa was looking forward to deputising her.
It is reported that Hon Thomas Tayebwa like Kadaga left Statehouse in protest saying the Vote for Deputy Speaker was not free and fair.
He went on to confirm that he will join Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga whom CEC denied chance to go through NRM caucus.
Amongi Anita won the NRM deputy speakership ticket after polling 168 votes, Thomas Tayebwa got 149 and Robinah Rwakoojo trailed with 10.
