The Police in Kampala have launched investigations into the murder of a 10-year-old girl, whose body has been recovered wrapped in a sack.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, has identified the deceased as Ratifah Namawejje, a granddaughter to Fina Nakintu, a resident of Kinawattaka, a Kampala city suburb, located in Nakawa Division.
Police from Jinja Road said the deceased’s body was found by residents of Katoogo Zone, Kinawataka village Wednesday morning.
Preliminary investigations have shown that despite her tender age, the deceased was a caretaker at the home of Gerald Sematiko.
During a search in the said home, detectives managed to land on bloodstains on the mosquito net, blanket, two cups and half stick of Marijuana which have since been taken as evidence.
“Gerald Sematiko is currently on the run, but efforts are underway to have him arrested on allegations of murder,” said Police.
Police say, the said exhibits have been taken and will be submitted to the forensic team for analysis.
Meanwhile, the body was later taken to Kampala Capital City mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem pending further investigations.
