Summary: Two casual workers are believed to have killed their employers in Kyenjojo District, leaving the elderly couple dead in their home.
On Monday, the residents of Kiguza Village were shocked to learn that a couple had been gruesomely murdered, and the suspects, who were casual workers hired by the victims, were now on the run.
Victims: The victims were identified as Ivan Kiiza, a 77-year-old retired veterinary officer, and his wife, Eva Kiiza, a 70-year-old retired primary school teacher. They were found dead with multiple deep cuts on their heads, faces, and necks.
Initial Alert: The alarm was raised by 17-year-old David Musinga, who had come to discuss a casual labor job promised to him by Eva Kiiza. He discovered the bodies of the victims.
Hired Workers: The couple had hired two casual workers in September, one named Friday Munyarwanda, and an unidentified woman, to help with household chores.
Crime Scene: Police discovered a room believed to belong to Munyarwanda stained with blood. Various pieces of evidence were found at the crime scene, including a machete, gumboots, bed sheets, and a mobile phone.
Escape: Despite the evidence, the two casual workers had vanished by Monday evening, and police efforts to locate them had been unsuccessful.
Investigation: Authorities are conducting an investigation, and the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem. Notably, Ivan Kiiza had injuries on his palms, suggesting he may have tried to defend himself.
This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and the hunt for the suspects continues.
