The Ugandan Police have announced a reward of Shs20 million for any member of the public providing information leading to the arrest of the suspected gunmen in response to the recent attack on Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, the founder of House of Prayer Ministries International, where his bodyguard was killed.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on January 2, 2024, when unknown gunmen allegedly attacked Pastor Bugingo at Bawalakata Junction along National Housing Road in Rubaga Division, Kampala. The attackers sprayed his car with bullets, resulting in the death of his bodyguard, Corporal Richard Muhumuza, who was attached to the Special Forces Command (SFC).
Although Pastor Bugingo survived the attack with injuries, the police are actively seeking information to apprehend the perpetrators. The reward is aimed at encouraging individuals to come forward with relevant information that could assist in solving the case.
The motive behind the attack and the identity of the assailants remain under investigation. The reward initiative is part of the police efforts to gather leads and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
