John Muhiire, an area councillor, mentioned that Corporal Mawadri had been socializing with friends in the vicinity on Sunday night. His lifeless body was discovered at approximately 8:30 am by passersby.

A police sniffer dog led investigators to two rental rooms near the location where the body was found, but the occupants were not present. Muhiire suggested that there were marks on the ground indicating that the soldier might have been harmed in one of the nearby bars before being moved outside and left there.
