Police in Mbarara have arrested a 31 year old man for allegedly murdering his mother in cold blood.
The suspect Geoffrey Tumwine was arrested alongside his two colleagues; Godfrey Ndyamwijuka of Rwenkuba cell and Johnson Oramukunde of Kigoro cell both in Rwamuhigi parish Rubindi Mbarara.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi region police mouthpiece said that on 31st July, 2021, they were informed that the deceased Joveret Kekimuli 60 years was found lying dead in her house.
Kasasira added that they immediately responded to the scene in Rwenkuba cell Rwamuhigi Rubindi Mbarara and discovered that the deceased’s body had deep cuts on the head.
He noted that they immediately brought a sniffer dog which tracked down Tumwine whom it is alleged has been having a long standing conflict with his mother over land. Two of his friends were also arrested.
So far, two exhibits a panga and a hoe suspected to have been used for the murder were recovered at the scene of crime.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mbarara referral hospital for postmortem as investigations into the murder take course, according to the police PRO.
