In the tranquil neighborhood of Windsor Park in Gweru, a city in Zimbabwe, a devastating incident occurred when a young teenage boy took his life amidst a dispute over a missing SIM card. The victim, identified as Theophelus Chakoma, who was only 16 years old, was found hanging from a mango tree on his parents’ property.
Suicidal Over a SIM Card: More Information Revealed About Teen Who Tragically Died
The Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, revealed that the tragic incident took place on a Friday evening around 8 pm. Theophelus Chakoma had engaged in a heated argument with Otilia Chihwawa, a 21-year-old domestic worker who was employed by his parents, over a missing SIM card.
According to Inspector Mahoko, “Chakoma’s parents reportedly intervened and resolved the matter after the disagreement.”
However, the situation took a devastating turn when, at approximately 8:21 pm, Theophelus went to bed. The following morning, at 5 am, Otilia made a tragic discovery – Chakoma’s lifeless body was found hanging from a mango tree in the yard. It was reported that he used a necktie to take his own life.
An Investigation by the Police
Inspector Mahoko has confirmed that the police are investigating the sudden death case and the authorities were called to the scene to gather evidence. They are conducting a thorough investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
The Windsor Park community and residents of Gweru, at large, are reeling in shock and grief as they come to terms with the unexpected loss of a young life.
