The Bunyoro Kingdom is all set to host the Kabalega Independence Run, which was officially launched yesterday. The run is scheduled to take place on October 7, 2023, at Booma Grounds in Hoima City.

Andrew Byakutaga, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom, revealed that this event serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it aims to commemorate one hundred years since the reign of King Kabalega. Secondly, it is intended to support education initiatives.

Participants in the run will have the option of competing in either a ten-kilometer or a five-kilometer race. Byakutaga explained that the funds raised from the event will be used to donate school books to traditional community schools in the greater Bunyoro region. Additionally, the proceeds will support economically disadvantaged but academically bright students from across the country by covering their school fees.
