Vicar General Stresses the Importance of Diligent Study Alongside Prayer for Exam Success
In preparation for the upcoming national examinations, the Vicar General of Kasana Luwero Diocese has advised candidates not to rely solely on prayers for success. The exams are set to begin on Monday, October 16th, with the Uganda Certificate of Examination (UCE), and the official briefing will be on Friday, October 13th. The Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) are scheduled for November 8th to 9th, 2023, while the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Examinations (UACE) will take place from November 10th to December 1st, 2023.
As the exam dates approach, schools across the country have been organizing prayer sessions to seek blessings for their candidates and dedicate them to God. However, Monsignor Francis Xavier Mpanga, the Vicar General of Kasana Luwero, emphasized that prayers alone are not a guaranteed formula for academic success. Mpanga stressed that students should understand that prayers become meaningful when combined with diligent study and thorough preparation.
Monsignor Francis Xavier Mpanga made these remarks during a mass organized to bless candidates at Kakoola High School in Luwero district in anticipation of the upcoming examinations. The Headteacher of Kakoola High School, Mike Wagaba, welcomed Mpanga’s guidance and affirmed the school’s commitment to preparing students effectively for the exams.
One of the S.4 candidates, Valentine Michael Ganza, expressed confidence in their exam preparation despite the disruptions caused by COVID-19. He acknowledged the importance of seeking divine blessings but also recognized the value of completing their ordinary-level education. Many of their peers faced challenges that led them to drop out of school.
