The Uganda Commercial Fish Farmers Association (UCFFA) has urged the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) to address a significant floating wetland within Lake Victoria. In a letter dated Monday, Mr. Dick Lufafa, representing the UCFFA president, highlighted concerns about the presence of the floating wetland observed between Luzira in Kampala and Koome in Mukono District.

“We request for your quick response on having this mass removed lest the floating fish cages, navigation, and power generation on Lake Victoria are endangered,” the UCFFA letter emphasized.

Efforts to address the floating wetland are crucial to safeguarding the operations of fish farmers, navigation routes, and power generation activities on Lake Victoria.
