Police in Sheema District have arrested four individuals for refusing to participate in the national population and housing census.
The spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi police, Marcial Tumusiime, identified the suspects as Gaston Bamwesigye (37), Subi Yonasan (64), Evas Katurere (50), and Aidah Bahendeka (80) from Kishabya West, Shuuku Town Council in Sheema District.
All four are currently detained at Sheema Central Police Station.
These arrests supplement two others made earlier in Bugongi Town Council: Beatrice Bashemerirwe and Jastine Bahumwire.
According to Tumusiime, all four individuals belong to a religious group called “The Good News,” also known as Egiri, which forbids its members from participating in government initiatives, including the census.
