Four remanded over theft of Umeme equipment

KAARO KARURUNGI | KAMPALA – Four men have been remanded to Kitalya prison by the Specialized Utilities Wildlife and Standards Court on charges of theft of equipment worth Shs320 million belonging to electricity distributor, Umeme Limited.
The accused are Michael Nuwamanya, 26, the Director Mucocent Technical Services Limited, Ashraf Turyatemba,18, Obadia Matsiko,26, and Abdul Matovu, both electricians working Muttico Technical Services Limited.



During a meeting directed by magistrate Asuman Muhumuza, the blamed denied charges going from burglary, acquiring and holding taken property to intrigue to submit a crime.

In the wake of denying the charges, state investigator Ms Patricia Chingtho educated court that investigations into the case are as yet progressing and requested more opportunity to bring proof sticking the suspects.

Therefore, court selected to remand the suspects until May 27, for notice of their charges.

Arraignment fights that the blamed others still everywhere on April 29 and May 1 at Kayiwa zone and Ssenkatuka zone Rubaga Division in Kampala, took aluminum, bolts, polymeric, pig tales, medical procedure arresters, pig braces, attachments filaments, protectors, reel covers and R90 pin covers, among others.

It is additionally claimed that all the charged others still everywhere between April 29 and May 1 this year, at Kayiwa zone Rubaga Division plotted to take.
