John Kakeeto, a Gombolola Internal Security Officer for Kyesiiga Sub County in Masaka rural district, lost his life in an accident that occurred late Saturday night in Kyotera District.
The accident took place on the Masaka – Mutukula road, on the way back to Masaka, towards Kaliisizo town. Alongside Kakeeto, several others sustained severe injuries and were promptly transported to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to an eyewitness, who requested anonymity, the accident unfolded before 9:00 pm at a sharp corner just as one enters Kaliisizo town in Kyotera District.
At present, the cause of the accident remains unknown, as the police continue their investigations into the matter.
This incident marks yet another addition to the series of fatal accidents witnessed during the Easter festivities in the Masaka sub-region.
In the past two days alone, two fatal accidents have rocked the area, claiming the lives of more than nine individuals, including families who were traveling to the villages for the holiday celebrations.
Police had issued warnings earlier last week, urging road users to exercise caution and avoid reckless behaviors such as drink driving, which significantly heighten the risk of accidents during this period of heightened travel activity.
