Kaabong: Boy with 15 Aggregates Denied Sponsorship- Shock has gripped many faces of Karimojong locals in Kaabong district after the district committee, responsible for selecting pupils who scored the best, left out a total poor boy who scored 15 aggregates.
The boy, by the name of Boncha Lokure, aged 14, a resident of Lokiyekes village, Lokiyekes parish, Lolelia South sub-County, Dodoth East County, sat his PLE in Pajer Primary School in the remote Kaabong district and scored 15 aggregates.
However, the selection committee under Straight Talk Foundation, which provides bursaries to disadvantaged pupils with funding from Irish Aid, decided to only pick pupils who scored 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 17, and 16 respectively, leaving him out.
John Lokut, one of the concerned residents, described the team that carried out the selection as unfortunate.
“We have realized money is being exchanged in this selection because the poor are not benefiting from the Irish Aid bursary program,” he said.
Speaking to this publication, the stranded Lokure said his dream of becoming a brain surgeon is now shattered.
He calls upon President Museveni to come to his rescue, saying he only lives with his grandmother who can’t even afford to buy him a book.
“Imagine enduring seven years walking eight kilometers to school, performing well until finishing primary seven, and now being left at home. It’s painful,” a tearful Lokure explains.
