A third year law student at Kampala International University Kansanga has allegedly succumbed to COVID-19 shortly after President Museveni reclosed all schools and higher institutions of learning for 42 days.
The deceased is identified as Grace Kiconco, she was on Monday found dead in her hostel suspected to have succumbed to the deadly corona virus.
“The KIU law fraternity mourns the passing of our very own Kiconco Grace who was found dead in her room today.
May she rest with the angels????????????” tweeted a coursemate Uncle Darly https://t.co/e8YqxEv9O1
An anonymous source told Kaaro Karungi that the university is however keeping the information as confidential.
“Yes, she is dead although they (the university) have seized the info to be out” a source confirmed to Kaaro Karungi.
The source alleges that the university has recorded some cases of corona virus but deliberately hidden the information from the public domains.
Another credible source whose sister is a student at this university disclosed that his sister contracted the virus in the university hostel where she has been residing.
“My sister gat covid was in her residence didn’t know shit en when we picked her to hospital, mother fuckers said she gat covid, in intensive care unit currently…I’m sorry about the language but…. anyway,”
This source revealed that family is incurring a burden of paying costs to meet his sister’s hospital bills.
“… we are paying for the medical bills so big question mark right there. Each dose costing 250k some big must be eating well about ug covid,” source said.
However the university has not made any formal communication about the matter and when our reporter tried reaching the campus head of communications, he was unavailable to attend to us.
By the time of this publication, no postmortem report on the cause of KiconcoKavuma’s death had been released. Further details will be published in our subsequent reports.
