In the past, Flavia Tumusiime discussed a previous audition experience at NTV Uganda where she chose to leave the audition process upon realizing that the interviewer was someone she had a strained relationship with. At the time, Flavia had recently completed her university education and was working successfully at Capital FM. She had aspirations of exploring opportunities in mainstream television.
NTV had recently launched in Uganda, and many individuals were participating in auditions for a specific travel show. While waiting alongside other candidates, Flavia discovered that the station’s Production Manager, Jackie Ssenyondo, would be conducting the interviews. The two had previously worked together at WBS TV and had not maintained a positive rapport.
Upon recognizing Jackie as the interviewer, Flavia believed that her chances of securing the job, even if she performed exceptionally well, were slim due to their history. During the audition, as soon as Jackie called for the next candidate, Flavia decided to leave.
Flavia began her media career as a teenage show host at WBS, where Jackie served as a producer and production manager. Their working relationship was marked by disagreements, as Jackie did not view Flavia as a serious professional.
Flavia recalled, “She thought I was downright stupid… We had never even had a conversation, but she always made it clear how she felt about me.” However, Flavia eventually found her breakthrough at WBS when she was invited to host “Karitas Karitsimbi’s K-Files” after Karitsimbi went on maternity leave and subsequently left the show. Later on, she secured a VJ position on Channel O in South Africa.
