Flavia Tumusiime Recalls Starting Her Media Career at Age 14

Ugandan radio and television host, Flavia Tumusiime, reflects on her journey in the media industry. Tumusiime, now 34 years old, began her career as a teenager, despite her father’s initial hopes for her to become a lawyer.

In an interview with NTV Uganda, Tumusiime shared that her early interest in television was fueled by spending a lot of time at home and being introverted. She watched television extensively and often noticed grammar mistakes made by presenters. Feeling she could do better, she sought an opportunity in the industry with the help of her aunt, who knew Brenda Nabiryo.

This leap of faith led to her first interview at the age of 14. During the interview, she was simply asked to look at the camera and speak. Tumusiime believes she performed well, as she was immediately invited to participate in a live show to answer questions. From that day onwards, she was asked to return every Saturday, marking the beginning of her media journey.

Since then, Flavia Tumusiime has excelled in various roles in the media industry, including radio and television hosting, voice-over work, and serving as a renowned MC.
