A 34-year-old woman in Zimbabwe was taken into custody for stabbing her husband’s girlfriend after catching them red-handed on top of each other in her marital bed.
The occurrence on February 10, 2024, Saturday night, in Mkoba Village 14 of Gweru has shocked the local community.
Stacy Thokozani Mkhandla, the suspect, was at an all-night church prayer session when she received a tip-off from her neighbours that her husband had brought his girlfriend into their home.
Reportedly, Thokozani Mkhandla left her residence around 7 pm on Saturday to attend a church prayer, leaving her spouse Tafadzwa Munyoro at home along with their two children.
Tafadzwa then left their children unattended and came back home around 10 pm that same night, accompanied by his girlfriend, Brightness Nancy Phiri. Subsequently, a neighbour informed his wife about this development.
According to Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the spokesperson for Midlands Province Police, who addressed reporters on Sunday, Thokozani Mkhandla unexpectedly arrived home and discovered the two lovers in the act on the couple’s marital bed.
“Mkhandla returned home the same Saturday night from a church night prayer and found Phiri and her husband, Tafadzwa Emmanuel Munyoro in the bedroom,” Insp Mahoko said in a statement.
He went on to mention that Mkhandla grabbed a kitchen knife, and tried to stab her husband’s girlfriend but was prevented from using it by Tafadzwa, who managed to take the weapon from her and remove it from the bedroom.
“While Tafadzwa was out, Mkhandla took another knife in the kitchen and stabbed Phiri several times in the body. Phiri managed to escape out of the house and jumped out of the precast walls but soon collapsed on the street and died,” said Insp Mahoko.
Upon arrival of the police, Mkhlandla was subsequently arrested at the scene. This information was also disclosed by Insp Mahoko.
“Phiri’s body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital and the suspect is now in police custody,” he said.
