Lira Woman MP Linda Auma, calls for an emergency meeting on poor road status to solve the poor road condition in the district..
The woman member of parliament of Lira district, Hon.Linda Auma who doubles as the chairperson Road Committee today Monday 24th October 2022 called an emergency road committee meeting at the district chamber to come out with solutions to the poor road network within Lira district.
Auma who addressed the media the emergency meeting, told journalists that ‘everywhere in the district the road condition is bad’
Present in the meeting were; the Chairman LCV Lira district, Mr RCM Okello Orik, hon. councillors and some technocrats among others.
She said last quarter Lira district received only 25m from the government which was not enough to work on the various bad roads in the district.
According to the government guidelines, 1km is equivalent to 2million shillings of which a 25million will be too small, an amount that will be unable to complete the roads construction in the whole district.
Auma listed several road links that have to be worked on including the following; the road from Amac town council-Ajunga,Bar Lonyo –Orit is impassable as of now.
The next road is Corner Engato-Odoo-Alidi border in Oyam,the road connecting Bar Oguda-Orit is in a sorrowful state among others.
Meanwhile in Erute south, the road from Abongo Rwot-Ocamonyang is waiting for the second quarter road fund Amoniringo is in our plan to work on’Said MP Linda.
According to Auma work on the road will commence tomorrow the 25th October 2022 from Agweng Town.
She added that two days ago, she met the state Minister for Works and transport Musa Ecwero, who agreed to give the district some culvert.
