Police in Kiswaza village, Kikuube have arrested 35-year-old Herbert Katushabe for the murder of his father, 61-year-old Julius Kwesiga.
According to police spokesperson Julius Allan Hakiza, the deceased was last seen on the 11th of this month at the local trading center, where he was drinking alcohol.
The following morning, at around 7:00am, a man named Brain Belifula, who had a contract to cut trees in the area, found Kwesiga’s body lying burnt to death in his sitting room.
Belifula reported the matter to police, who then arrested Katushabe. Hakiza said that the suspect and the deceased had been in a land dispute for some time, and that the village chairman and other stakeholders had recordings of Katushabe threatening to kill his father over the land.
Katushabe is now in custody and is facing charges of murder.
