KAARO KARUNGI | MBARARA DISTRICT – Mbarara regional referral hospital director, Dr Celestine Barigye has cautioned members of the public against flouting the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs in the fight against COVID-19.
He sounds this after the hospital running out of COVID-19 vaccine as authorities await another batch from the ministry of health.
According to Dr. Barigye, the hospital has not had any COVID-19 patient since their last case on April 6, 2021.
COVID-19 vaccination was launched on March 12,2021 and 2700 people have been vaccinated so far. The exercise will resume when another batch of vaccine arrives.
Since March 2020 when the hospital confirmed its first COVID-19 positive case, it has treated 570 cases registering 49 deaths.
