Residents of Mawokota North constituency in Mpigi district voiced their grievances regarding the denial of PDMs and appealed to President Museveni and Hon. Amelia Kyambadde for assistance.
The residents gathered at a fundraising event for St. Jude Church in Bulansuku village, Kiringete sub-county, on Sunday, April 29, 2024. They urged the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Obongi Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka, who was among the guests, to convey their message to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. They highlighted the need for intervention in Mpigi district, where government-funded programs face deliberate obstruction and funds are allegedly misappropriated.
Furthermore, the residents requested the RDC to reach out to Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, the Presidential Advisor on Trade and Industry, urging her to stand again as the Member of Parliament for Mawokota North. They believed her leadership would lead to the liberation of Mpigi district from its current challenges.
In response, RDC Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka assured the residents that he would relay their concerns to President Museveni and Hon. Amelia Kyambadde. He emphasized that the government allocates substantial sums to all districts every three months through both conditional and unconditional grants to facilitate their operations. However, the residents countered, stating that they hadn’t received any funds under the PDMs scheme. The RDC clarified that the government had disbursed funds under various interventions, including YLP, Emyooga, UWEP, SAGE, and CDD.
Mr. John Marks Kasita, representing the MP for Mawokota North, acknowledged the issue with PDM funds in Mpigi district and called for urgent government intervention.
During the same event, Hajji Agadi Ngobya, representing Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, donated over one million shillings on her behalf. He encouraged the people of Mpigi district to make informed decisions during the 2026 elections, cautioning against the politics of opposition, which he believed hindered government programs, ultimately affecting the common people.
