The former prime minister of Uganda Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda has today praised the character of the deceased Prof. Emmanuel Mutebile Tumusiime as both selfless and coperative to others.
These words were said during the time when Hon. Rugunda addressed the mourners and the entire Ugandans at the burial which happened at his ancestral home in Kabale district. Mutebile was the Governor of the Bank Of Uganda by the time he died.
In his emotional speech, Rugunda said that Mutebile worked tirelessly with the rest of the Kigezi public figures in serving his people for example the orphans. Hon.Rugunda helped all the mourners understand how the deceased teamed up with big people like Gen. Gim Muhwezi (Rukungiri), Hon. Amama Mbabazi (Kanungu), Amos Nzeyi (Kabale), Garuga Musinguzi (Kanungu), member of parliaments and other very many public figures of Kigezi.
Rugunda revealed how the deceased technically belonged to all spheres of life like lottery, banking, and other areas perfectly and had no clash any where. He went ahead to say that Mutebile is one of those big people who helped him succeed in politics since he sold his name far and wide around all corners of Kigezi.
He said,
Mutebile’s strong efforts to challenge the bad ideas of the former president of Uganda – Iddi Amin and later parsuing his further studies at Oxford University (London) is enough proof that Kigezi had born hero. His name will always be remembered and worth cerebrated.
He eulogized the departed Professor as an icon who laid a strong foundation for the orphans around Kigezi and elsewhere. He added that prof. Mutebile worked hand in hand with miss Villa Grace – a care taker of orphans in seeing that they got good education while providing all the needs.
