Kampala, Uganda: Uganda’s First Lady, Janet Kataaha Museveni and Minister of Education and Sports, expressed admiration for the extensive renovations undertaken by businessman Hamis Kiggundu. The stadium, earmarked as a key venue for Uganda in hosting the AFCON 2027, impressed Mrs. Museveni with its modernized facilities and infrastructure.
On Tuesday, February 20, Mrs. Museveni lauded the initiative of young entrepreneurs like Kiggundu, emphasizing the pivotal role such projects play in Uganda’s socio-economic development. She commended Kiggundu for his leadership in spearheading the renovation, which has transformed the stadium into a state-of-the-art sporting facility.
The Nakivubo Stadium redevelopment project, valued at over $200 million, underscores Kiggundu’s significant investment in advancing sports infrastructure within the country. With its official reopening slated for early 2024, the stadium represents a landmark achievement in Uganda’s sporting landscape.
