On the 10th of October, 2023, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, the Minister of State from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), attended Uganda’s National Day celebrations in Kampala on behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During his visit, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan met with Yoweri Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda. The purpose of this meeting was to mark Uganda’s National Day and strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two nations.

In the meeting, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan conveyed the greetings and well-wishes of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as those of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. These greetings and wishes were extended to President Museveni and the people of Uganda, with hopes for further development and prosperity in the country.

In return, President Museveni expressed his greetings and wishes for growth and development to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. He also acknowledged the historical relations between Uganda and the UAE and commended the mutual efforts to strengthen and expand these relations.

During their meeting, both sides discussed the close bilateral relations between the UAE and Uganda. They also exchanged views on various regional issues of mutual interest and explored opportunities for cooperation and investment. This meeting was part of the ongoing efforts by the UAE and Uganda to enhance their bilateral relations and collaborate to achieve shared interests and goals.
