The Ministry of Lands and Urban Development is calling upon all stakeholders to work together in addressing the challenges related to affordable housing in Uganda.
Minister Judith Nabakooba emphasized the need for everyone involved in the housing and urban development sector, as well as the general public, to assess the housing delivery systems and plan for the upcoming housing year.
Nabakooba spoke to journalists at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala ahead of the 2nd Housing Symposium scheduled for this Thursday in Kampala.
She mentioned that the first National Housing Symposium took place last October, and stakeholders had recommended holding an annual national forum to bring key participants together to tackle the growing housing deficit.
Nabakooba also highlighted her Ministry’s collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and other significant stakeholders to offer an opportunity for reflection on the state of human settlements and the fundamental human right to adequate shelter.
World Habitat Day 2023 is being observed under the theme, “Resilient urban economies: Cities as drivers of growth and recovery.”
