OYAM:

In Oyam district, the management of Ngai SS is currently in dire need of UGX 5 million to repair their college truck which has been down due to mechanical problems for the past five years.

This has had a major impact on transportation means at the school, affecting both academic and extracurricular activities.

The school truck, which is an old model TATA lorry, was donated to the school by the government of Uganda through the Ministry of Education and Sports back in 1993 to help ease transportation challenges faced by the school.

However, due to the lack of funds, the school has been unable to renovate the truck, which has remained parked in the school compound for the past five years.

Olwata Richard, the head teacher of Ngai SS, has expressed his deep concern over the situation, stating that the lack of transportation means has been a major challenge for the school for the past five years. This has resulted in the school being unable to take students for sports activities or on tours outside the school premises.

Ngai SS is one of the traditional schools in Oyam district, but it currently has low enrollment of only 280 students, both O’ and A’ Level, with 25 teachers in total. Out of the 25 teachers, 18 are on the government payroll, while 7 are on the non-government payroll.

Despite these challenges, the school is determined to provide the best education possible to its students, and the management is appealing to well-wishers, donors, and other stakeholders to come forward and support the repair of the school truck. This will go a long way in enhancing the quality of education and extracurricular activities at Ngai SS.
