On Monday, January 8, 2023, Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali experienced a personal tragedy as his wife, Sarah Ali, passed away while undergoing treatment at Medipal Hospital in Kampala. The announcement of Sarah’s demise was made by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja in a statement dated January 8, 2023.
The statement, while not disclosing the cause of Sarah Ali’s death, outlined the tentative burial arrangements. A vigil was scheduled at the deceased’s home in Naalya estate along Paul Kasule Road on Monday night. Subsequently, her body would be transported to Adjumani for burial on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with the interment taking place later in the afternoon.
Gen. Moses Ali, 83, a native of Meliaderi in Atabo parish, Pakele division, Adjumani district, has been the elected Member of Parliament for East Moyo County in Adjumani since 2011.
Former Uganda Premier, now Special Envoy for Special Duties in the Office of the President, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, and his wife extended their condolences to Gen. Moses Ali. In a post on social media, Dr. Rugunda expressed sympathy, saying, “My wife and I send condolences to my elder brother, Retired General, Moses Ali, the Second Deputy Prime Minister on the passing of his dear wife, Sarah. May the Almighty God comfort the family during these trying times. We have you in our thoughts and prayers.”
