Today, 19th December 2022, at around 7am, the territorial police at Budaka registered a fatal accident at Naboa Town Council along the Mbale-Tirinyi Road.
The accident involved a motor vehicle with registration number UBK 995F and an Isuzu box body with registration number KCX 071K, resulting in one person being killed on the spot.
It has been confirmed that Hon. Okabe Patrick, the Member of Parliament of Serere County, has passed away.
His wife, Christine Okabe, also succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital. The driver, identified only as Jacob, remains in critical condition at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to the Isuzu box body driver. It is reported that the driver drifted from his side to the side of the Landcruiser that was heading from Mbale to Iganga, resulting in a head-on collision.
The driver of the Fuso box body is currently on the run.
