In a recent development, the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has provided a brand-new Class B Ambulance to assist the Bunyoro sub-region in safeguarding the lives of its residents.

The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah, handed over the ambulance to the management of Hoima Regional Referral Hospital. She recalled her previous visit to the hospital, during which it was reported that the facility had only one operational ambulance, despite the need to serve the entire Bunyoro region.

Nabbanja emphasized the importance of using the ambulance effectively to benefit the entire region and fulfill the government’s promise of “Securing the future” as outlined in its manifesto. The ambulance, worth shs300 million, was purchased through the Ministry of Bunyoro affairs.

State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Jenipher Kacha Namuyangu, stressed the importance of providing services without discrimination, ensuring that all individuals in need benefit from the ambulance’s assistance.

The company that supplied the ambulance has committed to servicing it until it reaches 100,000 kilometers or a warranty period of 5 years, whichever comes first.

Dr. Tom Ediamo, representing the Hospital Director, expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda for the timely donation, which will significantly improve the hospital’s ability to transport patients, particularly during emergencies such as accidents and disease outbreaks.

The handover ceremony took place during the World Tourism Day celebrations held at Boma grounds in Hoima City.
