World cross country champion Jacob Kiplimo is poised to participate in the upcoming 10 km Valencia Road race in Spain scheduled for January 14th, 2024. Kiplimo, a double Commonwealth Gold medalist and record holder for the 21km, is expected to face stiff competition from accomplished athletes including Rodriguw Kwizera (Burundi), Boniface Kibiwot, Philemon Kiplimo, Jacob Kosgei, and Bravin Kipkogei Kiptoo from Kenya.

Having achieved an impressive personal best (PB) of 41 minutes and 5 seconds during the 15 kilometers Sevens Hills race in the Netherlands late last November, Kiplimo has been diligently preparing for the Valencia Road race in Kapchorwa under the guidance of his Ugandan coach, Peter Chelangat.

In an interview with Uganda Radio Network, Kiplimo expressed his readiness for the competition, stating that this event serves as both a season opener and preparation for the upcoming World Cross Country Championships. The soft-spoken athlete stated, “I feel prepared and am hoping for the best.”

Coach Peter Chelangat emphasized the thorough preparations undertaken leading up to this highly anticipated race. He highlighted the significance of this first race of the season, indicating that it will serve as a crucial benchmark for Kiplimo to assess his fitness level.
