Kigali, Rwanda:
In a bid to strengthen togetherness and bonds between the Uganda Golf Club Union and other East African golfers, Kigali Golf organized a friendly tournament, dubbed the Private Sector Federation Golden Tournament Open, which took place at the Kigali Golf Resort and Villas Club grounds.
Players from Kigali Golf Resort and Villas, along with colleagues from Mbarara Sports Club (Uganda), Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi, participated.
The East African competition included both men’s and women’s categories, A, B, and C, respectively. Mbarara won the tournament, led by Captain Ssekajja Ashiraf. Chairman George Odong won the guest winner tournament of the Private Sector Federation Golden Tournament 2023 with a net of 67 under par. Atukunda Laura won the ladies’ category with a net of 69 under par, and she was also the overall winner of the Ladies in Rukundo Open 2023, which was held in Kabale.
In another tournament played at Kabale Sports Club, which included participants from Mbarara Golf Club, Tooro Golf Club, and Kilembe Golf Club, the winner was Olora Joseph from Mbarara Golf Club with a net of 66 under par. Captain Ssekajja Ashiraf won group B of the men’s category with a net of 69 under par.
