URA FC 2-0 Mbarara City FC
Arena of Visions, Ndejje
Tuesday, 27-04-2021
URA FC moved four points clear at the top of the Uganda Premier League thanks to a comfortable 2-0 win over BUL FC on Tuesday.
Goals by Brian Majwega (penalty) and Shafiq Kagimu ensured the Tax Collectors snapped a two-match winless streak and take a step closer to a first league title since 2011.
As early as the 10th minute, Majwega dispatched a penalty after John Adriko had committed an offence in the area to hand Sam Simbwa’s side the lead.
Adriko who was having all sorts of troubles trying to contain the URA attacks on the left-side of the Mbarara City defence was moments later taken off and replaced by Steven Othieno.
Both sides traded possession and created little in front of goal there after as the game headed into the break with URA in the ascendancy.
Two minutes after the hour mark, Ivan Sserubiri who had replaced Michael Birungi moments earlier, set up Kagimu to net the second and put the game beyond Mbarara City.
In a controlled manner, the Tax Collectors saw out the victory which puts them on 47 points, four ahead of Vipers SC who are in action against MYDA FC on Wednesday.
For Mbarara, they drop to 10th with 25 points from 21 games.
In their next fixtures, URA hosts Onduparaka FC on Friday while Mbarara City are away to BUL FC the following day.
