KAARO KARUNGI | MBARARA – Traders in Mbarara city have now seen a ray of hope as they will soon move back to their highly anticipated Central Market.
The government project which has so far faced three consecutive setbacks is said to be in its final stages.
Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi the Mbarara city mayor had earlier told journalists that the Contractor of the market construction ROKO construction Company Limited had already tendered in his guarantees to the ministry of Local government to finish up the construction works.
Kakyebezi further noted that officials from the ministry of Local Government would visit the construction site before they could grant the contractor more time to finish up.
The mayor said that the biggest percentage of the works had been done; with a few things like floor to be finished in the shortest time possible.
The former minister for Local government Raphael Magyezi had threatened the contractor to terminate his contract failure to deliver the final work by 29th.May.2021.
The 21 billion project is being implemented by ROKO construction Company under the Markets an Agriculture Trade Improvement Project (MATIP) that aims on improving agriculture.
