The Zoe Theological College USA has awarded the Queen mother of Tooro, Best Kemigisa an honorary doctorate in humanities.

Breaking the news on her official Twitter handle, Kemigisa said she was recognised for her contribution to women empowerment in Africa.

She was also commended for uplifting women and girls to become advocates and change agents.

Kemigisa, 54, is the Queen Mother of the Toro Kingdom, based in Fort Portal, Uganda. She is mother to Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the reigning Omukama of Tooro.

She is the founder and patron of the Tooro Women’s Development Association and a co-founder of the African Queens and Women Cultural Leaders Network.

Kemigisa is passionate about issues that affect girls and women in Africa.

She organises Hakyooto events (empowerment projects for young people) in various parts of Africa to educate, entertain and empower people to enable them live their best lives.

Zoe Life Theological College (USA) has a vision to train and equip men and women to be effective leaders in the Body of Christ, the community, the nation, and the world.

The college trains students in the five-fold ministry, as well as to equip and mobilize believers from all walks of life to be active and effective members of God’s army.

Many graduates become full-time ministers; others lay leaders in their local churches; and others leaders in politics, education and business.
