A Uganda People’s Defense Forces patrol vehicle on Thursday morning rammed into a Uganda Railways train, trapping two soldiers in the incident.
Efforts to rescue the two soldiers were going on by press time.
Deo Kyomya, the commercial manager of Uganda Railways Cooperation, confirmed the incident, saying their locomotive had been knocked by a vehicle in Kireka, Kira Municipality in Wakiso district.
“A team from the Uganda Railways has dashed to the seen to get more details,” Kyomya said, adding that no fatalities had been registered so far.
Uganda Railways Corporation recently resumed passenger railways services between Namanve-Kampala and Kampala-Portbell in Luzira.
Eye witnesses blame the UPDF driver for failing to respond to a signal that clearly showed that a train was advancing.
