The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has said that they do not have the UCE and UACE answer sheets for the President of the National Unity Platform, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
The revelation was made in a letter to lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi, who had requested the answer sheets in order to investigate allegations of forgery. UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo said in the letter that the answer sheets for the years in question (1996 and 1998) were lost in a fire.
Mabirizi is not convinced by UNEB’s explanation and has vowed to continue his investigation. He has also threatened to invoke the Uganda National Examinations Board Act, 2021, to force UNEB to release the answer sheets.
The controversy surrounding Bobi Wine’s educational qualifications is the latest in a series of legal challenges he has faced in recent months. In July, a court ruled that he had fraudulently registered and entered Makerere University two decades ago. The case is now being handled by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The unfolding events continue to cast a spotlight on Bobi Wine’s educational and legal history. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to clear his name and continue his political career.
