Jinja-based bantamweight boxer Salimat Tibesigwa is preparing for her upcoming match against fellow countrywoman Christine Aja. This non-title bout will take place at Luweero Recreation Ground on October 14. Tibesigwa, who had a three-month hiatus from boxing, is eager to secure her eighth victory in ten fights.
Her return to the ring comes after her visa application for a lucrative fight in Dubai in August was denied, leaving her without a significant match opportunity. This time, Tibesigwa is determined to make the most of her participation in another highly-anticipated match organized by Great Strikers International.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Tibesigwa said, “I have been out of the ring for a while, but this 10th bout holds great significance for my future fights on the continent. I just need to maintain the right mindset to continue my winning streak.”
Under the guidance of her trainer, Julius Mponge at Batooma Sporting Club, Tibesigwa has emerged victorious in her last five matches. This impressive record could potentially lead to more significant international fights against tougher opponents in the near future.
