In a recent announcement, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction shared that they will hold their delegates’ conference on March 15, 2024. This decision follows a resolution made during a previous conference on September 19, where an interim government was established and given six months to organize a delegates’ conference for selecting new party leaders.
Erias Lukwago, the acting party president, disclosed the schedule, which includes gatherings of youth and women this week and on October 6. Additionally, all party founders will assemble to discuss the party’s future, which has been marked by leadership disputes. Lukwago cautioned against attending any other delegates’ conference that falls outside this framework, emphasizing that such meetings would not be recognized.
On a different note, the Najjanankumbi group had previously announced their own delegates’ conference scheduled for October 6, 2023. This event is part of the party’s efforts to elect new leaders in preparation for the 2026 general elections.
