In a recent match in the Pepsi University Football League, the University of Central Uganda (UCU) secured a convincing 7-1 victory against Busitema University. The match took place on October 4, 2023, at MUBS – IUIU, Nakawa.
Busitema University started the game with enthusiasm, taking an early lead with a score of 1-0. However, UCU quickly turned the tables by scoring seven goals in total.
Joel Okiria played a crucial role for UCU, contributing to their impressive performance by scoring multiple goals, including a remarkable six-goal streak. Captain Geoffrey Gaganga and Peter Kyomuhendo also played significant roles, each contributing with a goal. Isaac Ofoyirwoth added to UCU’s success by scoring three goals, securing the victory for their team.
Abdulnoor Musisi, the coach of Busitema University, expressed disappointment with his team’s performance but acknowledged the talent of the UCU players. He stated, “My players, who are mostly freshmen at the university, need time to adjust to the university league’s competition level. Facing a team like UCU is a learning experience, and we will work on improving our game.”
UCU player Collins Ahumuza emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating that their success was a result of collective effort.
In the University Football League standings, UCU currently holds the second position in Group D with six points, while Busitema has three points. Kumi and Kampala International University (KIU) are other teams in the same group with no points at the moment.
